What I got for Christmas 2013

I first went to see this film with my friend who insisted that I must see it.  I was a bit sceptical because it was a book that my brother was learning about at school in which I  had previously not really enjoyed the books we learnt about in lessons.  Besides this I thought that if my friend says it is good then surely I should give it a try.  My first impressions of the film were that it would be old and essentially boring.  However I braved it, thinking well, its £6.50 worth a try.  So when I saw it in the cinema, I loved the glitz and glamour of the film, including the cinematography and I just found it really interesting.  I would highly recommend this film as it is a beautiful love story and as my friend rightly said "It's got Leonardo Di Caprio in it - what more could you want?!" and rightly so as he plays Gatsby very well in my opinion.  Anyway so I was thrilled to have it on DVD so I can immerse myself in the fancy lifestyle any time I like.

One of my friends bought me this cute little denim bag which reminded me of when I was little and I had a little denim purse in which I put my lunch money in.  I just really like this bag and I'm sure it will have many an outing especially in summer.

As it is winter and it is cold, I bought myself a little (what I thought was a bear but everyone else thought was an owl) hat which I wore and so, my friend decided to buy me a couple of cute beanies to add to my collection.  I think they look really cool (blimey I haven't used the word "cool" since I was about ten) when they are worn and my favourite is the Zebra one.

Everyone and their dog has had a tub of the classic Body Shop body butter at least one time in their lives.  I am absolutely terrible for moisturising my skin, (apart from my face) especially my elbows, as they do lack in moisture.  I think this is mainly because a lot of moisturisers or body butters did leave my skin feeling greasy and so I have been reluctant to use them.  However I do enjoy having (like I'm sure everyone does) is smooth, soft skin.  Therefore, I received my favourite and well-loved Body Shop scent, Shea Butter, as I prefer it to the Cocoa butter scent and/or any others that the Body Shop have.  I am very particular about smells but I really like this one as it is not too heavy or sickly sweet unlike the Coconut Butter or any of the fruity scents which I am not a fan of.  I applied it today and it disappears quite nicely into my skin and does not leave my skin feeling greasy or oily which previous moisturises have done.  It also came with a shower cream which lathers nicely and leaves me smelling like Shea butter all day long.

I received this little cute present from one of my friends and I have never heard of this brand before.  Now, I'm not mad on ginger so when I saw that on the box my heart sank -just a little bit.   However I thought surely it cannot smell as bad as it tastes.  I have sniffed it from the bottle but I am yet to use it, as I am still working my way through a few other products as I have gotten quite a lot bath/body related things.

Oh my goodness.  Can we just take a step back for a minute and appreciate what we have gleaming before us.  Two marvellous scents Calvin Klein "IN2U" (above) and "Honey" by Marc Jacobs.  Firstly I am aware that this is not a new fragrance but I still love it; Calvin Klein has captured a floral scent which is delicate and lasts all day.  I have been wearing it non-stop and I am glad that my friend bought this for me as I am trying to build up my perfume collection as I like to have a choice.  This is a good everyday fragrance, as it is not heavy and very wearable.

More recently, I have received the fabulously fruity scent of "Honey" by the notorious Marc Jacobs.  I have been pining after this perfume for quite a few months now and I am so glad it is now in my possession!  I am not normally one for fruity smells but I do like this one as it smells amazing - of honey and oranges- and I will be using this sparingly as it is a special present and my main present from my sack.

Obviously, a classic and everyone has them, let's face it, chocolate taste better in coin form.  These are white chocolate- what can I say, they're yummy.

This is a book is in a series which I have been loving ever since the first one came out , this is the third book in the ruby Redfort series and I have been a big fan of Lauren Child's books ever since I was little and I used to read "Charlie and Lola" and "Clarice Bean" series.  Her books are ideal for children of all ages and for adults very entertaining.

Also, Jacqueline Wilson's books are exceptional, I remember reading them when I was about 8-10 years old.  This is the sequel to "Hetty Feather"  which I remember was all the rage when I was twelve.  You may think its childish but I think they are a good read- for all ages.

In August I purchased the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser and have been using it ever since and it is nearly run out, therefore I needed a new one and I also got a mini toner and eye treatment which so far I have really been enjoying.  Everyone has pretty much heard of this product and you don't need me to tell you that it is notorious for improving the skin.

Standard stocking filler, everyone has one of these.

I hope you guys got everything you wanted for Christmas! See you in the New year!

A Winter Walk

On a cold boxing day we decided, mid-morning to venture into the woods for a walk before lunch.  Along the way I took a few pictures because  thought the woods looked so pretty with the sunlight coming through the trees.  I remember when I was younger, we used to go for quite a few walks in the woods and so now I pretty much know my way around them.

Boxing Day Breakfast

Christmas is over.  Post holiday blues set in.  But we don't want to let go of that yummy food that surrounds Christmas, but we don't want the effort.  Here is an easy-egg lazy day recipe for breakfast/ brunch.

You will need:
Eggs
Butter
Salt and Pepper
Tomato Purée
Cream Cheese

Melt a bit of butter in a heated pan.

Crack one (or two if you're really hungry) into a bowl and whisk with a fork and season with salt and pepper.

Pour the egg into the pan and add a squirt the tomato purée (only a bit is needed because it is very strong).

Mix with a wooden spoon until the egg is no longer runny.

Meanwhile butter some bread or toast (I prefer bread so it soaks up all the flavours).  Next, add in the cream cheese - I just have the dill and smoked Salmon one which is delicious!

Stir the egg until it looks cooked and appetising - make sure it is cooked all the way through.

Then scrape it out and put it on the bread and eat!

I just think it is a nice, easy alternative to having to cut cheese and ham to make scrambled eggs, just to have something in it.

A Festive Day

Merry Christmas Everybody!
I hope you have all had a very good Christmas day and I wish you a very Happy New Year.  I had a lovely Christmas day which I spent with my family and we all ate too much and watched a lot of TV.  Here are some pictures that I managed to capture on this busy day.

My grandparents have a lot of Christmassy decorations and I photographed them all because I thought they looked cute especially the little snowman and Santa which have floppy legs so you can sit them on the mantelpiece.

A Holiday Celebration

This is just a coffee I got from Waitrose when I went shopping with my mum a bit later on that day.

Merry Christmas everyone!
I have officially broken up for the holidays and I celebrated by going out with my friend.  We went to Frankie and Benny's to have a celebration meal and then Christmas shopping!

I had the New Yorker Calzone and it was so delicious! I get it every time I go there along with the brownies and ice cream for dessert.  I Highly recommend it and if you have not been there-why? It is so scrummy.  One thing I would say though is that we did not appreciate the rowdy men at the next two tables and the pensioners party making so much noise I couldn't even hear myself speak.

Hope you're having a good holiday! Merry Christmas!
(I hope these photos tingle your taste buds!)

Christmassy songs I have been loving to keep you entertained:

A Little Christmas Inspiration

Picture from Weheartit
I feel as though I have been a bit slack in my blogging because I have been struggling to think of something to write.  I will obviously blog about Christmas and New Years but to be honest, I have just been trying to make it through to Christmas break.  I still have a lot of Christmas shopping to do, but at least I am thankful that I have a good idea of what to get them.  I am ill at the moment which is not fun; headaches and sore throats are the downfall of winter.
